Every May, Rainshadow Running brings their team of hard-working staff and volunteers to the golden hills of the Methow Valley to host some of the most epic and colorful running ultras in the Pacific Northwest. I have been fortunate to follow and photograph their events for the last few years. With Balsam Root wildflowers in full bloom, runners experience gut-wrenchingly long climbs rewarded by incredible mountain vistas. Fall brings runners to the Loup Loup Ski Bowl during Larch Madness. Amazing color from the larch foliage greets runners as they face endless climbs and descents up and down the ski runs at the Loup. 17,000 feet of elevation gain awaits!
